What is HERS Testing?

HERS is the Home Energy Rating System. What we do with this system is inspect, test & ensure that the framing and insulation was built and installed in a manner that provides a better seal at the core of the home. We also inspect and test all duct-work, heat & air, and all HVAC units for efficient air changes as well as leaks. If these areas are built without quality your home will not provide the proper efficiency to give you a comfortable and affordable living situation.

 

What Does That Mean for Homeowners?

If your home was built to be completed and there was no attention to the efficiency of the material being used, what that means for homeowners is your energy bill is annually higher than someone who had a licensed HERS inspector double checking the building process of your home. When your home has a HERS score you also find out a possible annual cost to your home energy bills. 

 

How you could be losing money to your home.

If you have a home that is not in good standing on the HERS score then you are literally throwing money out the door. A home that is not better than average could spend hundreds more annually on heating, cooling and just living in your home. Getting a HERS rating does not instantly make your home more efficient but it gives you a guide of what you need to do to save money in the long run.
